The Durable Slate Company has been awarded a Top Workplaces 2020 honor by Columbus CEO. The list is based solely on employee feedback gathered through a third-party survey administered by employee engagement technology partner Energage, LLC. The anonymous survey uniquely measures 15 drivers of engaged cultures that are critical to the success of any organization: including alignment, execution, and connection, just to name a few.
“For more than a decade, the Top Workplaces award has helped organizations stand out among their competitors to attract talent,” said Eric Rubino, CEO of Energage. “This differentiation is more important than ever in today’s tight labor market. Establishing a continuous conversation with employees so you have a deep understanding of your unique culture is proven to help achieve higher referral rates, lower employee turnover, and double the employee engagement levels. No longer is recognition simply a much-deserved cause for celebration, but it’s fast becoming mission-critical to establish a competitive advantage for recruitment and retention.”
"We have been fortunate to have received many National and international awards over the years. All of those awards acknowledged either our business ethics, craftsmanship or safety practices, in which we worked hard for and I take great pride in. With these types of awards you know what the standards or rules are. The industry sets them and you strive to meet and exceed them and sometimes you are fortunate to be the best at that moment in time.
To me earning the Top Places to Work award is very different. Of course there are standards and rules that the government require of us an employer. But meeting those standards doesn’t necessarily create a great work culture. Since the early years of Durable we set out to create a company culture that includes treating our employees the way we would like to be treated, a culture where everyone is given the opportunity to learn and grow to reach their fullest potential. A culture that is always full of hope and growth for everyone’s future. A culture that encourages good old fashioned values like work ethic, honesty and care for one another. A culture that celebrates and rewards integrity and craftsmanship. We have always felt that while these expectations may not always be the easiest way to go, we felt it would attract and retain the best of the best in the long run.
For our employees to have the opportunity to evaluate honesty and with anonymity our company against those expectation makes winning the Top Places to Work Award the most special to me, as it validates all that we have been tirelessly working towards all these years."
