Constructed in 1914-1915 by the esteemed architectural firm Stevens and Nelson Company of New Orleans, the Morehouse Parish Courthouse is an iconic Beaux Arts-style building with significant historical and architectural value. The courthouse features buff brick veneer walls, a four-stage dome, and spacious landscaped grounds, embodying the elegance and grandeur of early 20th century architecture. Located at 100 East Madison Avenue in Bastrop, Louisiana, this landmark structure has symbolized judicial integrity since its completion over 100 years ago.
In 2024, The Durable Slate Company meticulously restored the Morehouse Parish Courthouse. The scope of the project included the removal and replacement of the copper roof and cupola. This critical work ensures the preservation of the building’s grandeur for future generations.
