Cheverly, Maryland is a small town located in Prince George's County, just outside of Washington D.C. The town has a rich history dating back to the early 20th century, and is home to a number of historic architectural landmarks.

The town of Cheverly was founded in 1918 by developer E. Brooke Lee, who named it after Cheverly Hall, a manor house in England. Lee designed the town with the goal of creating a planned community that would attract middle-class families to the suburbs. He laid out the town in a grid pattern, with wide streets and large lots, and he built a number of amenities for the community, including a swimming pool, a golf course, and a community center.

One of the most notable architectural landmarks in Cheverly is the Cheverly Club, a social and recreational organization founded by Lee in 1922. The club was designed in the Tudor Revival style, and it features a grand entrance, a ballroom, a bowling alley, and a number of other amenities.

Another historic architectural landmark in Cheverly is the Cheverly United Methodist Church, which was built in the Gothic Revival style in 1923. The church is known for its beautiful stained glass windows, which depict scenes from the Bible, and its grand organ, which was donated by E. Brooke Lee himself.
Other notable historic buildings in Cheverly include the Cheverly Community Center, which was built in the 1920s and serves as a gathering place for community events, and the Cheverly Swim and Racquet Club, which was founded in the 1930s and is a popular spot for swimming and tennis.

In recent years, Cheverly has undergone a number of revitalization efforts, and many of its historic buildings have been restored and preserved. These efforts have helped to maintain the town's unique character and history, and have made Cheverly a desirable place to live for people of all ages.

Overall, the history and historic architecture of Cheverly, Maryland are an integral part of the town's identity and charm. These landmarks serve as a reminder of the community's rich past, and they contribute to the town's sense of place and belonging.
